Sabrina, this is absolutely beautiful! 😍

I loved this line in particular: "No boy had given me anything, really, except confusion and regrets." There are soooo many questions....!!!!

Sabrina, never ignore a story that wants to be written. Especially with such excellent results. And don't second-guess taking a different approach. This one was not as much a standalone as you think, as if very much evokes a sense of both time and place. Well-done.

If you hadn’t told us this was fiction, I never would have known. The feelings, landscape, angst, confusion, and wonder read real. I wonder who the boy was. I wonder if I had a crush on him. I certainly was in that group of not so popular girls curious about what the popular ones had that I didn’t. Readers whether they know you or not can identify with so many elements of this lovely piece.

Don’t apologize for straying. It led we readers down a lovely path.

I'm so happy to hear you liked it and that is resonated with you. Thank you. That age is such a tumultuous and emotion-filled time in our lives; lots to mine there for stories!

Stories need to be told. Never ignore that.

It's such a story of innocence and such an antidote for this week. Thank you so much, Sabrina.

The story might have been fiction, but the geography wasn't. I knew all the places you talked about as a warm memory of my own past. Thanks.

Thanks Ginny! I'm glad the descriptions rang true to you and that you have some warm memories associated with that lovely place we grew up.

Wow Sabrina, what a beautiful and bittersweet story. Your words put me THERE. From my perspective, your listening to that “command” to write whatever it may be was magical! Thank you...

Oh, thank you so much Martha! I'm glad it resonated with you. It's so hard to write all alone in a room and not know what it will read like to someone else!
