Like Jayne, I'm a bit ruthless about throwing things out. These days, I use scraps of paper as infrequently as possible and instead make notes on my phone. This works very well for me as I always have them, they're easy to delete, and they don't take up space or get lost.

I've even transferred my checklists to my phone. I love crossing things off the list but I still get to on the phone. Not quite as rewarding though.

Have a wonderful trip! Looking foward to hearing all about it

Good for you for being fully digital! I have many long-lasting lists on my phone (movies to watch, books to read/have read, etc). But it is the notes from phone conversations which I most struggle with. But maybe I can create an electronic Note for all my friends with whom I converse and keep the notes there...Hmm. You have given me food for thought! Thank you! I can't wait to hear about your trip adventures too! Safe travels!

Oooh, I do hope you win an Australian trip. If it's to South Australia, just be warned they are in drought and things are really dry. We're very dry here in Tassie as well, but not yet in drought.

Re the filing? I have an admin file on my computer desktop which probably classifies as a mess. Periodically I go in and clean the randon stuff (same with 'bookmarks') but I make little headway. It's all 'important'.

Ha! That's the thing-isn't it. It's all IMPORTANT! Or also in my case, just interesting enough to want to remember 'later'. Whenever later may be!

I hope I win one of them too, and I will bring water with me if we do win the one to South Australia. Finger's crossed!

I'm already planning where I could meet you. Sydney? Melbourne? If Melbourne, I could show the best chocolate shop outside of Europe...

Obviously Melbourne then! An opportunity to get closer to a visit with you is the main reason to enter the contest, although I’ve wanted to go to Australia my whole life. What a wonderful gift that would be!

Hello from 'Spain' 😅 How funny and spooky that your phone did that... I am in love with your daffs, I miss them so much.

I really hope you win a holiday, it seems like that would totally justify your workspace not being as tidy as you would like!

I'm afraid I don't really have any tips, I'm quite ruthless with chucking stuff out, even writing notebooks, though I have lived to regret that in the past so I say, carry on!

I'm so impressed that you can throw everything out. I threw out all my writing notebooks, diaries and letters and everything from my childhood at one point when I was getting rid of my life's detritus. I remember thinking that I might regret it someday, but that the lightness of getting rid of it then was overwhelming. I have missed a few old diaries that I would love to revisit to see how i thought about things at a certain age, but otherwise, no regrets. But those damn scraps of paper....!

And thanks for the comment about the daffodils. The seven are still hanging on and a few more are just poking out their brilliant yellow petals so maybe we'll see a couple more before we go. There was ice on the bird bath this morning though, so I don't blame them if they stay cuddled up a bit longer!

Just thinking about the scraps again, maybe you could make an actual scrapbook from them? It could act either as place to keep them all in one place, or a manuscript of (hybrid) writing in itself 😀

Love to the daffs! And to you too - have a great trip! ❤️

ohhh, you are a genius Jayne! I love that idea! And a way to use some of the lovely blank books I accumulate...Thanks so much for all your clever thinking and good wishes 🤗 ❤️

Two uses in one! Three, if you curate it into a chapbook-type collection. Sorry - getting overexcited hehe!

ohh, what's a chapbook? Is that the hybrid manuscript writing to which you refer above? (I'll look it up, you don't need to answer...Ha ha)

Yes, basically! 😅 I'm not 100% sure of the exact definition either, just that i could definitely see these snippets of thoughts, conversations and ideas as a collection. I bet once you looked through them you would find themes and through-lines…
