Loved this post Sabrina! And now I want to visit New Forest! 😀 Thank you for writing about the urge to dream about living somewhere else even when you’re happy being where you are...it’s a bit of a conundrum, but I’ve done that for years too and gotten lots of enjoyment out of it. Plus it’s fun in a different way to visit a place and appreciate it for what it is, but know that you wouldn’t want to live there.
So happy that you both had such a fun birthday weekend!
I'm delighted to hear you have that dream habit too! It is an interesting way to travel, I agree! And don't worry-we were thinking about you two when we were in the New Forest and how we might incorporate it into your visit! ;)
Are you going back to see the snowdrops? You must!
I always think about what it would be like to live in a new place, imagining myself there. You’ve inspired me to plan a trip or two to explore new areas in Oregon, if I can only get Dave to agree to go!
Love this one - and happy birthday, Pete! I too engage in the "could I live here?" game; now that I'm back in San Francisco after forty-plus years, and having moved four times in six years, I honestly hope I never move again, but it's still fun to imagine: Point Reyes Station? Lucca? Taos? Alnwick?
Thanks for your wishes to Pete-I'll pass them along! Glad to hear you're a "could I live here" person too! I'll certainly be delighted to visit you in all those places you mention, should you change your mind about San Francisco.
My attitude toward changing houses is similar to my attitude toward shopping: pick what you need, do a targeted search, purchase and then work with what you've got. No window shopping. No "what-ifs". Which is why I'm still surprised that we've found ourselves in a new home in Sebastopol after three DECADES in Ojai.
I'll pass along your wishes to Pete! Thanks, Lisa. And I think you answered your own question: You had a (new) need to be near your daughter, you found a place and you've worked with what you found to create a delightful place to call home. You've adjusted the sails as life required. Very inspiring! xx

Happy Birthday, Pete! It all sounds magical.
Thanks Amy! It was!

Thanks Patti! I certainly hope we can go back - we may be travelling though!

More importantly - happy birthday Pete!
