You jogged a wonderful memory of crocuses that I have. When I was a child we would drive by a home and by its curb would be "Spring is here" written in crocuses!
This made my heart leap! I hope the sun and the blue sky and the colourful flowers have continued into today. Your photos and videos are just gorgeous. Daffodils are also my fave flowers of all time. Thank you for sharing this magic with us all 🥰
You are so kind, thank you Jayne. No sun today. Wild winds, blowy showers, but only a tiny headache remains, so I'm okay with that. I had a really hard morning workout class, so only need a shorter dose of fresh air today. And I agree: daffodils are the most cheerful flower of all!
I'm so glad to hear the sun shone, the sky turned blue, and crocuses peeked through the dirt. I wish that happened more often for you. I have absolutely no right to complain or even grumble but I did notice one day last week that I was feeling particularly cheery. Then I realized why. After five days of gray skies, it was bright blue. It's amazing how much the weather affects one and often we don't even recognize its imact.
Walking does make a world of difference. I hope you can walk off some of those headaches. Ugh. It's no surprise you have an increasing amount these days. The sun will come out again and you'll feel better.
I think those of us from sunny climates have a harder time adjusting to numerous grey days in a row. Or at least I do. Glad to hear you got relief from the sun reappearing as well! I'm just hanging in there for now, and appreciating every moment of sun when we do get it.
Of course I think I got sunburned yesterday as my poor pale skin isn't used to that much light all at once. Lesson learned. The sunscreen is now prominently displayed to remind me next time we get sun!
You are doing the best thing by walking daily - grey or blue. It's amazing how getting out into the natural light, you can find the smallest little things that spark hope and then joy and finally peace.
The one thing about the seasons is the religious cyclic nature of it all. You can trust them to illuminate the hands of time in the most beautiful way.
I so look forward to a northern hemisphere bulb display.
Yes, walking daily is our favourite thing to do. We started it as a thing to do together during lockdown and decided to keep going. But I also love a ramble by myself, the better to observe, and stop to wonder when I am struck by something that deserves a longer appreciation.
And you are so right about the seasons continuing to move on. I don't know why or how I get stuck in the winter one thinking it will never end, when of course it always does!
Once the colour shows up consistently, I will proudly share! Thanks!
Grey skies are a heaviness on the shoulder. My father always complained about headaches with grey skies. I felt the same, Sabrina, when we had three winters in a row of wet. The only way I could manage it was to buy good waterproof boots, don the old raincoat, take an umbrella and walk anyway. The Late Terrier never minded that much and it lifted the weight off my shoulders, that's for sure. Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the pouring rain... My other plan was to always have inside things to do - writing, embroidery and cooking. That helped.
Oh this resonates! Ive had many days this week of headaches. The grey is back today after two glorious blue ones. And I've got a few wonderful non-writing projects to distract me today too. Thank you ❤️
Here's to a continuing brightening in your heart and in your place. I see my own (antipodean) world beginning to gather shadows. Our reciprocal cycles continue. I try--not always with success--to embrace each mood of the year. Grey skies are hard, though. Wishing you happiness...
Thank you Tim. Happiness this time of year is a struggle, but as long as I can still find joy some small thing every day, I know I will make it to the warmer springtime gardening days. xx
I feel your pain regarding seemingly endless days of gray skies. However, this January has been the driest in history, and I would guess the sunniest in Seattle. The sunshine on a cold day helped keeps the doldrums away. Come on come on come on I just wanna put.☀️
Yes, agreed! Any blue and sunshine easily makes up for cold. I've been seeing lovely photos of snow in Seattle the last few days and snow light is always a treat as well. That spring is coming, it really will! ❤️😎
I love these lines so much! “I will not feel grey and dull and flat and awful forever. There are little miracles of hope sprinkled everywhere around us, if only we quieten the hubbub in our heads, get outside, observe, and listen.”
Sabrina, thank you so much for taking us on such a lovely, hopeful nature walk this morning. You're right, getting outside is the balm for so much, and especially when colorful little hopes of spring start popping up, helping us feel our way forward.
Thank you Lisa! I hope you get a chance to get outside and enjoy the lush green hills whenever you can this time of year. Always little treasures to be found in those walks.
Oh, you are so kind. I think your words of encouragement last week kept me afloat until I could see sun and flowers. So thank YOU for carrying me to that point!

I LOVE this! How fun is that??? Thank you for letting me know ❤️

Glad the migraine has done the decent thing and left you in peace! Enjoy a cosy evening at home, sounds like you deserve it! ❤️
