A few weeks ago, we attended an opera at Glyndebourne for the second year running. One of the main joys of going to Glyndebourne is the chance to picnic in and wander around the gardens before and during the interval in the performance.
As you may remember, last year it poured rain. This year for a couple weeks up to performance day it had been wonderfully dry. A few days before the event it threatened to rain just on that day, and the day before there was no rain in the forecast, just clouds. So who knew? We came prepared, and ended up with dark clouds and a definite chill in the air.
No matter, Vicki had once again cleverly reserved a table in a marquee so we were warm and dry before and during the interval. We did go for a stroll in the gardens before the performance at 5 pm, after our first course of nibbles and our (now) traditional bottle of English sparkling.
The Barber of Seville was delightful: funny, well-sung and acted, and fast-paced. And ultimately no rain!
Since I am away this week, and I wrote about the event in great detail last summer, last year’s description is linked here.
Wishing you a lovely June, and I’ll see you next week!
xoxo Sabrina

So glad it worked out without rain! Sounds like great fun and I'm sure you wore just the right outfit you've been planning since last year.
Hurrah! Sounds absolutely brilliant! x
