And so it is the winter solstice.
Who knew at the beginning of the year all the places we would visit, the new ideas we would learn, laughter we would enjoy, friends we would see, and how much love would fill our hearts?
We also had no idea that the horror of human malevolence would persist so long. And to be startled anew by other horrors we dared not believe could happen, and yet they do, still. Again and again we are shown the many ways and places humans can and will treat each other so inhumanly.
However, I cannot dwell there, even though I know I also cannot turn away entirely.
For today, what is in my control is this: I want to give you BIG, warm, heart-filled wishes in this season of family and celebrations of all shapes and sizes.
My wishes for you include:
Some peace and quiet time,
Time with your chosen family,
Finding some light in the darkness,
Plenty of time outside, no matter the weather,
Some music that you love,
Bonus content for Ted Lasso Fans: Brett Goldstein singing the Muppets Christmas Carol songs in 6 minutes:
Some special food you only eat at this time of year,
And always, some art to stir your creative soul.
Please also accept my gratitude for your time showing up here each week and commenting when you feel so moved. I love knowing you are out here, and hearing your thoughts.
If you know anyone else who might enjoy reading these essays, I would be so grateful if you click the share button below and send them this way. The more the merrier!
The next 6 weeks into the new year my essays might be somewhat erratic as I will be on the move again. But I’ll keep you posted, and try not to miss many weeks in a row.
Meantime, enjoy your beloved family, friends, food and festivities in this winter season. From today the days get longer, at least here in the Northern Hemisphere!
xx Sabrina
