Over the next few weeks I’ll be reposting some earlier content whilst I am visiting family and friends. For those of you who have joined in the last year, you may not have seen these. For those of you who have been along from the early days, hope you don’t mind a short time-hop back to the end of 2022. This one starts out in a rather gloomy mood—sorry about that; that’s where we were at the end of 2022 here in the UK. It ends on a much more positive note, so hang in there!
But before we jump back, does anyone else feel like we are at the top of a roller coaster, in the fraught pause before that feeling of being out of control will electrify our lungs and we forget to breathe? Two elections in my two countries means a LOT to process and understand with big emotional dramas yet to come. I guess we better hang on and hold tight to the side rails that keep us thinking we are safe.
In the meantime, here are a few minutes in the British countryside to keep your heart rate slow and steady.
Let me know any thoughts you have about local bus rides or year-beginning roller coaster rides (or anything else!) in the comments! I’ll be checking in as and when I can.
xxx Sabrina
When needed, change places
The past few weeks here in the UK have been a bit wintery in many senses. The temperatures in December have plummeted relative to our unseasonably warm November. Here on the Island we have had hard frost, snow and sleet, and generally freezing temperatures which is not unusual, just more of a shock after our recent balmy days.

So lovely to read this post again, Sabrina - thank you for the treat! 😊
Yes, the thought of any election anywhere is fraught as it seems the rightwing is picking up traction and the direction of the world frightens me.
But I can't waste my energies on it. My family and I need to enjoy life and survive in the best way possible on this tiny island that is a pimple on the very isolated arse-end of the world. We'll manage...
Beautiful view of the lighthouse - they're romantic things. Always a story attached and able to stand against all many of threat. Metaphor there!
